Empty rooms, a person waiting. The spaces that host this figure belong to a small town in southern Italy, whose population continues to decline without pause.
The man, wandering through this precarious landscape, lingers within it calmly: he breathes, sits down, looks around, sometimes rests. By closely observing the subject of these images, one can perceive its artificiality – the body is covered with digital artifacts and its movements are standardized. It is the avatar of a person who may or may not exist, and it is precisely its existence solely within digital space that renders it a pure representation of something else, of a broader existential condition.
The video clips, each of short duration, activate a long and cyclical temporality: that infinite moment suspended between the emptying of a place and the anticipation of its repopulation.
