Curatorial text:The residual wax left behind by a melting candle resists the destructive charge of combustion.
It is what remains of something that endures, that retains the possibility of recomposing itself and reappearing: of preparing the ground for new fires, new warmth. It slips, permeates space, and shifts position; it is living matter, which accepts its condition yet does not vanish because of it. Even once extinguished, it still burns, engaged in a constant struggle for self-affirmation that confirms its own existence.
Today, images, gestures, words, and data move fluidly and traverse space without stopping: they intersect, alter their own status, until they take on material form.
To gather molten wax means consciously claiming and asserting what gives shape to the reality around us; lighting novel flames is an attempt to re-narrate – and above all to re-narrate ourselves – so that our gaze may offer new possibilities of vision even to those outside of us.
If what has already been said can become excellent tinder, why not rekindle the flame and see how it spreads?
