Nobody talked about fun
Event presenting the outcomes of the video laboratory course led by Lorenzo Lazzari with Eleonora Bonino, Elisa La Boria and Alessandro Vangi. The projects were created by the first and third-year students of the Multimedia Arts curriculum at the Iuav University of Venezia.

Preface to the event:The celebration is generally conceived as a time of joy and sharing, the culmination of a dream, the beginning of a new phase. The party reshuffles the cards on the table, mocking pre-established social structures.
The individual sheds the self and becomes part of a single, multiple, and fluid body, where losing oneself becomes essential. Yet the epiphanic and joyful dimension of this event reveals its fractures: it is not merely a celebratory occasion, but a cultural dispositif dense with ambiguity. Within the liminal space temporarily inhabited by the party, the bodies involved move and rewrite themselves, passing through the pressure of performance, the fleeting nature of euphoria, and the anxiety of not belonging. The party reveals itself as unstable ground, where codes are played with and roles are challenged.
Nobody talked about fun is an invitation to grasp the tensions of festivity, the paradoxes and transformative potentials that every celebration can contain.
It shows us what lies beneath the colorful surface: the desire to escape, but also the fear of not being there; the need to feel part of something, but also the pressure to live up to expectations. It offers a gaze onto a collective ritual that fascinates us. Does the performativity produced by the party – strongly tied to a society fixated on the visible – force us into predefined roles? The event becomes an invitation to reflect on the paradigms that shape the celebration: it dismantles them, problematizes them, and plays with them.
Festivity is recorded through the medium of the smartphone, a mobile device that alters our way of perceiving the moment of celebration, both from within and from without. By presenting a corpus of projections with live-performed audio, the event suspends ordinary time, creating an “other” space where rules loosen, spatiality fragments, and the collective body dissolves, only to recompose itself into new forms.
